Karl Stonebraker lives in Ohio. He has been married to one wife, Pamela, since 1974, who has given him two daughters, Abigail and Elizabeth, who (in cooperation with their fine husbands) have given him six grandchildren, Benjamin, Eleanor, Olivia, Clara, Caleb and Henry – who give him countless moments of happiness.
He is a graduate of Solon (Ohio) High School, Mt. Vernon Nazarene College, Eastern Nazarene College, Chicago Theological Seminary and Asbury Theological Seminary. He is semi-retired from the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. He presently serves Amity UMC in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He has been engaged in pastoral ministry since 1978.
Personal interests, in no particular order and apart from those mentioned above, include church history, spiritual formation, wilderness canoeing and camping, downhill skiing, bicycling, hiking, reading, reading P.G. Wodehouse, writing, singing, listening to music, going to art museums, cooking, and traveling. He has also recently been doing research into his family history.
He completed, in September, 2008, 500 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage route in northern Spain that terminates at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. He has the papers to prove it. (The picture above was taken west of Leon and east of Vilar de Mazarife. The banner is a close-up of the street in Burgos beside the cathedral.) His account of the pilgrimage can be seen here: http://kdsperegrino.wordpress.com/
The writings on this blog are mostly communion meditations, newsletter articles, and short journal pieces for the local newspaper.
